Best way to start 2017 with a bang? Book a last-minute trip to Barbados. Travel, I hadn’t forgotten about you.
I decided to begin this new chapter in my life with a much-needed “first-trip-after-soul-crushing-break-up”. I’m taking my mom to Barbados for a week-long fun in the sun kind of adventure!
This will be my 20th Caribbean island and I couldn’t be more thrilled as I’ve had Barbados on my radar for so long.
I’ll be staying at the Accra Beach Hotel on the island’s South Coast, where I hope to indulge in as many fish cakes and rum punches as I possibly can and spend lazy hours on beautiful Rockley Beach. The Richard Haynes 1.5 km boardwalk starts on this beach so you can expect I’ll be taking many strolls there to catch the sunsets and try to snap as many photos as possible during gorgeous golden hour.
From there, I’ll be exploring the island’s East Coast to take in the sweeping views and huge waves of the island’s Atlantic side. First on my itinerary: jaw-dropping Bathsheba and its dramatic rock formations. I simply cannot wait!
On Friday night, there is no way I’m missing Oistins Fish Fry, the biggest party on the island, which should be pretty epic! I’ll also be visiting Bridgetown, the island’s capital and its UNESCO Heritage sites. I also hope to hit a few beaches, particularly Crane Beach on the Southeast coast and Sandy Lane on the very posh West coast.
Last but not least, I’m hoping to partner with local swimwear designer Isabelle from Sea Reinas to promote her beautiful creations as an ambassador for her fantastic brand
So, stay tuned here for plenty of coverage from this -long overdue- trip. More to come very soon!
